Circulation Policy
Borrowing of reading materials facility is available to the faculty, students and to staff of the Institute. The rules are framed to facilitate and promote, rather than to constrain, the use of library resources and services. Institute Identity Card is a must for issue & return of the reading materials.
1. Membership | The faculty members, staff and the students of the Institute are required to enroll as member of the Library (upon joining the Institute) by filling in the membership form available at the library circulation desk (along with a passport size photograph). It is entitles the use of resources and services offered for the purpose of academic and research work. |
2.Circulation of Books | Issue on all working days. Issue – Return time 09.15 AM to 6.45 PM No issue/returns transactions on Sundays and other holidays. |
3. Borrowing Privileges |
Borrowing Privileges Staff 5 Books per month Students 2 Books per week |
4. Reminders | Users can check the overdue items by login to the OPAC, but non-receipt of reminders is no reason for returning books late. |
5. Late fee | Rs.3.00 per day on over due days |
6. Renewals | Students can renew the books issued to them twice at a stretch if there is no request/reservation from others. |
7. Recall | Library may recall a book at any time before it’s due date. It is mandatory to return the book(s) when it is recalled, if there is any request from other users. |
8. Loss / Damage to Library Materials | If a student’s / staff losses any library book issued to them, it should be immediately reported in writing to the librarian. The borrower will have to replace the book or have to pay an overdue charges in addition to the original cost or the procurement cost of the book whichever is higher. |
9. Course Reserve (CR) Collection | Course Reserve (CR) Collection consists of textbooks and other reading materials recommended by the respective faculty members for different courses for each semester and are kept at the Course Reserve Section. Documents in the Course Reserve Section can be used only in the Library. |
10. Reference Section

A series of books maintained in the reference section for reading in the Library like novels, Encyclopedia, Dictionary’s, Handbooks and many other important and valuable books. These books are not issuable it kept only for reading in the library. |
GENERAL CIRCULATION RULES
Importance is given to maximum utilization of the library resources by students and faculty members.
Borrower details and borrowing privileges are registered in Library Automation system after receiving the details from the administration about the new members.
• Institute ID cards are used for circulation transactions, no separate library cards
are issued.
• Borrowing privileges and loan periods are based on Type of patrons (Faculty, students and staff)
• Resources categories (Books, Journals and Non-print materials)
• Faculty members are entitled to issue 10 books at a time for a full semester.
• Supporting teaching staffs are issued 5 books at a time for one month.
• Students are issued two books at a time for week.
• Reference books are not issued.
• Course reserve books/ CDROMs are issued only on an overnight basis.
• Books can be renewed twice, if there is no reservation for that particular book.
• Students are allowed to reserve only one book at a time.
• A late fee of INR 3.00/- is levied on students for overdue books.
• Priority is given to faculty in issuing the library resources.
• If any book/ CDROM is lost/damaged during the borrowing period, the cost of
procuring, or the original cost the book/ CDROM, whichever is the higher, will be
recovered from the borrower.
• Books are not issued to students during the vacation period.
