Purpose & Objectives

The purpose of the IIITB Library can be stated as the following:
• To be the knowledge hub of the institution and disseminate knowledge as widely as possible.
• To develop collections of materials that support, enrich and satisfy the curricula and research needs.
• To encourage use of the library and its facilities by the academic community.
• To provide reference and research services by a variety of means, including printed materials and electronic resources.
• Participate effectively in teaching-learning activities of the Institute.

In order to achieve these objectives the library will undertake the following:-

• Serve as the center of information and provide easy access to resources to IIITB
community.
• Ensure that faculty and students are offered all assistance in their pursuit of knowledge.
• Offer proactive services to all users.
• Optimize its potential to provide access to the available resources by proper display,
categorization and classification of materials.
• Help students to develop the skills to make optimum use of library facilities.
• Improve the collection and services on a continuing basis in consultation with users.
